Chapter 1

It started off like any other day, up early and already hard at work. I was working quickly as I can to finish my chores so I could eat, as mother did not feed me last night. After a swift beating I did manage to finish the chores and get a few scraps of food from my brothers leftover breakfast. Somehow I felt today was going to be different, but I didn’t know why, I was already hungry and mothers angry looks didn’t seem to be as phasing on the way to school. At school I had to go to the nurses office again, almost a routine thing for me by now. However after her examination she didn’t send me back to class like usual, instead I was called back to find out that my secret had been told to everyone the teachers and the principal. And frighteningly to me there was a police officer. I didn’t know why but I knew it must have been m who did something wrong, he took me from the school and called my mother, but I soon found out that I wasn’t in trouble at all, he “freed” me from my home telling me I wont be hurt anymore. I was not sure what it meant, but I was frightened as to what would happen next, but at the same time happy that it was all over.
